Year 4

Welcome back Year 4  ! - Croeso nôl blwyddyn !

Welcome to all our new Y4 children, parents and guardians.

Here is some information that you may find useful for the start of the new school year.

Your team is:

Mr Doyle & Mrs Bayley (Teachers) and Miss Darch & Miss Lawrence (Teaching Assistants)

Daily routine

Y4 start time: 8.40

Y4 finish time: 3.20 (Remember that later finishing siblings may be collected at this time too)

Throughout the day, classroom windows and doors will be open to keep the air circulating so make sure you are dressed appropriately to prevent you getting cold in class. Regular hand washing and sanitising will continue.

Your PE day is on both a Tuesday and a Friday for this half term, so please make sure you come to school wearing your PE KIT on these days.

Please send a fruit snack for mid morning, and a water bottle for in the classroom (squash or juice is fine for lunch boxes but please not for classroom use).

Reading books will come home from the second week onwards. Children will have a set day to choose their book each week, however they may last longer than a week so can be kept as long as necessary. Reading books will be chosen by the children themselves to encourage reading for pleasure.

Children may may bring a pencil case if they so wish, however we have all that they need available in class. Please do not send toys into school (where there may be a specific need, please contact your child’s teacher).

Homework for this year in Year 4 will consist of weekly tasks and period tasks.

The weekly tasks are to read with your child (see previous emailed letter for further information) and to go through the Big Maths CLIC and Learn-Its sheet that they bring home. These will have been marked and recorded, and will help you to see the skills that your child needs to practice e.g x4 tables, adding two digit numbers. These do not need to be returned to us, but are for you to see your child’s progress and guide you in supporting them.

In addition to this, periodically we will send home a more specific task linked to our topic or current learning. This will need to be returned on completion.

After school clubs

We hope to have range of clubs up and running later this term. Watch this space!

Phone calls

If the adults who look after you need to chat with your teachers they will have to make a phone call to the school to arrange a meeting beforehand. Due to current Covid advice, opportunities for playground chats are limited.
