Important Information
Platinum Eco Flag success
Huge congratulations to the Eco committee for their hard work over the last two days as well as generally across the year. Keep Wales Tidy came to reassess us and we have succeeded in retaining our Platinum Eco status. Some of the highlights of the visit were our use of the Edible Playground during PPA sessions and how the children were so enthusiastic about all they did.
Parent Questionnaire
Thank you to all of the people who completed the Parent Questionnaire. The survey is now closed and we will look carefully at the results to help us make our school even more successful!
Girls' Primary Fives football
On Tuesday the girls football team from Year 3 and 4 went to represent the school in a local football tournament. They were great sports and thoroughly enjoyed their day! Well done!
Plastic bottle top collection
Don’t forget that we are collecting any plastic bottle tops! Milk tops, pop bottle tops etc of any colour can be used for our art project. Children can bring them to school and put in the coloured buckets outside the Year 4 classrooms. We need lots so please keep bringing them in!
Vote for us at Tesco
Thornhill Primary School have been selected to be part of a vote to potentially receive £1500 towards our Edible Garden project. I am sure that your children have told you how much they love working with Mrs Brown to grow their own fruit and vegetables, and then cooking them with Miss Lawrence, and this money would help us ensure that the project will continue.

Arbor app
If you have not already done so, please download the Arbor app and register. An email was sent several weeks ago with details of how to do this. Arbor will be Cardiff schools' new method of keeping you informed and you will need to register going forward. We have lots of families in Y6 who are yet to register - this App will also be used by Cardiff Secondary Schools so will be necessary even after you leave this school. If you need help please get in touch with the office.
In search of tent poles and board games
We are hoping to increase our den-building kits and are looking for any old tent poles (sturdy not the flimsy type) that we could use! We are also looking for a few more board games in good condition to use at our Grandparents' coffee mornings that are suitable for children aged about 7-9. If you have any you are willing to part with please bring them to the office for Miss Price. Diolch!
Walk to school week 18-22 May
The last week of this half term will be Walk to School week. I know that many of you already walk to school but we are trying to promote the benefits of not only being active in the mornings but also of having less cars trying to park near the school. So that you can plan ahead, we will be encouraging children to walk, cycle or scoot to school (there are bike and scooter racks in school if your child needs to leave them here during the day). If you live too far away to walk, please consider doing a 'park and stride' where you leave the car a bit further away from school and walk the rest of the way. You might even find you like it and want to make it a new habit!
PLEASE SEE THE VIDEO THE CHILDREN HAVE MADE ABOUT THIS AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS PAGE.
