Important Information
Sports days
The times and dates for Sports Days are at the top of this page. They will take place as long as it is not pouring with rain, so if you do not hear from us then you can assume they are going ahead.
In order to make sure all children stay safe, please stay behind the barriers at Sports Day and don't call your child over to you. The children have been told to wave at their families but not to go over. If for any reason your child becomes upset, a member of staff will comfort them and might then call you over, but otherwise please wait behind the barriers.
Parents will arrive through the single side gate in the lane and the children will come onto the field via the steps. At the end of sports day we will ask the parents to leave first and the children to remain where they are. Once parents have left, the children can then come off the field. As always, if you need to collect your child for any reason, come to the office and we will go and notify a member of staff to go and collect your child from the field.
We also understand that you want to take photos and videos of your child in Sports Day. If you are filming or taking photos, please zoom in on your child and try not to get others' faces in shot. Please don't share anything on social media as we have children who cannot be on social media for safeguarding reasons. Thank you for your understanding.
Plastic bottle top collection
Don’t forget that we are still collecting any plastic bottle tops! Milk tops, pop bottle tops etc of any colour can be used for our art project. Children can bring them to school and put in the coloured buckets outside the Year 4 classrooms. We need lots so please keep bringing them in, and we are especially interested in blue and green ones to make some water murals!
Vote for us at Tesco
Thornhill Primary School have been selected to be part of a vote to potentially receive £1500 towards our Edible Garden project. I am sure that your children have told you how much they love working with Mrs Brown to grow their own fruit and vegetables, and then cooking them with Miss Lawrence, and this money would help us ensure that the project will continue.

Walk to school week 18-22 May
Next week is Walk to School week. I know that many of you already walk to school but we are trying to promote the benefits of not only being active in the mornings but also of having less cars trying to park near the school. So that you can plan ahead, we will be encouraging children to walk, cycle or scoot to school (there are bike and scooter racks in school if your child needs to leave them here during the day). If you live too far away to walk, please consider doing a 'park and stride' where you leave the car a bit further away from school and walk the rest of the way. You might even find you like it and want to make it a new habit!
PLEASE SEE THE VIDEO THE CHILDREN HAVE MADE ABOUT THIS AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS PAGE.
