We kept our full focus on addition this week, systematically building up our skills:
Brain Warm-Ups: We started by sharpening our mental addition strategies to speed up our recall.
Column Addition: The children moved on to mastering formal column addition with larger numbers.
Problem Solving: To finish off, everyone applied their calculations to complex word problems and multi-step puzzles.
In Language, we turned our attention to diary writing. The children examined various text examples and character viewpoints to uncover the essential features of an effective diary entry.
Linking back to our ongoing persuasive theme, we challenged the children to write a diary entry answering the prompt: "What would a day under the Ministry of Normal actually look like?" Their writing was wonderfully imaginative and highlighted just how restrictive a "totally normal" world would be!
It was a real pleasure welcoming so many parents and carers into our classrooms for Open Evening on Wednesday. Thank you so much to everyone who came along to view the children's work and speak with us—your support makes a huge difference!
