This week's news:
The end of term is fast approaching and in anticipation of the end of the year, we’ve had our transition day, giving the Year 3s a chance to see what it’s like to be a Year 4, meet their new teachers and settle in with their friends. It’s not always easy being faced with change, every year comes with lots of little uncertainties that can feel HUGE when they’re all jumbled together in one big worrisome blob. I must say though that Year 3 really impressed us this morning, taking the change in their stride, approaching the new year with maturity, showing that they’re ready for a new challenge. It is always hard as a teacher saying goodbye to a class (particularly when you’ve had to say goodbye to the same group twice in 4 years) after spending a year getting to know the ins and outs of how brilliant and funny and wonderfully individual everyone is, but we’re also really lucky to have gotten to know them and I’m sure they’ll keep on being brilliant wherever they go.
Anyway! We’ve written some lovely fact files this week on the Alternative Games, and based on the class’ reaction I think it’s safe to assume that we may have some aspiring bog snorkelers in our midst. We’ve also been sorting data using both Carroll Diagrams and two way tables. Our inquiry work has seen us designing portraits inspired by the book Wonder, highlighting all of the wonder-ish qualities each of us have, we’ve also set ourselves some record breaker goals for the end of the year. PE saw us getting stuck into some intense rounders games and in Welsh we’ve started answering questions on behalf of other people as well as ourselves.
