This week's news:

This week Year 3 have been digging deeper into our underground inquiry (pun fully and unashamedly intended) moving into the Going Further section. This part of our inquiry is a great opportunity for the children to really get stuck into becoming experts in a certain area of the inquiry - they have decided to split into groups, some focussing on natural disasters, others on the life that exists underground, a few on mining and human impact and others on how the underground reflects our history. Each group has started working on putting together an information booklet, which they’ll be building over the next couple of weeks. Language this week has seen us continuing our work on story writing, focussing in particular on the dramatic middle sections of our stories, full of action, conflict and excitement. Maths meanwhile has seen us using maps, working on giving directions both using a compass as well as turning left / right. In PE we’ve been wrapping up our tennis work and making a start on some athletics in readiness for Sports Day (which is actually very fast approaching - though not nearly as fast as Year 3 were during their practice races I can assure you).
