NewsletterOur week began with a Wonder Walk, sparked by the question: Who lives in our garden. Clipboards in hand, the children searched every nook and cranny — high, low, under and behind — and proudly collected their discoveries on a tally chart. We became researchers as we explored non-fiction books. The children learnt how to use the contents page, index and glossary, and were delighted to realise they could jump straight to the facts they wanted. Drawing Club took us into the world of Norman the Slug with the Silly Shell. After drawing Norman, the children invented magical new shells for him, created gardens for him to explore, and imagined tiny doors leading to astonishing adventures. Our vocabulary grew too, with words like determined, skulked, astonishing and slithering. In maths, we’ve been investigating the number 100 — discovering just how big it really is. We’ve also been practising our reasoning skills using the sentence starter I think… because… The garden has kept us busy as well. We’ve planted new seeds, tended to our growing beds, and watched our beans and potatoes shoot up. |
