This week in Drawing Club, the children have been enjoying The Very Hungry Caterpillar. They drew their own versions of the caterpillar, chose what he might like to eat, and even took him to their favourite restaurant. They also imagined fun places all the insects could visit, which led to some wonderfully creative ideas.
In Maths, we have been working on finding 1 less and practising counting backwards from 20. The children are becoming more confident with this and are beginning to use the skill independently during activities.
As part of our ongoing bug theme, we are continuing to become research experts. The children have been using information books to discover new facts about their chosen insects and are growing more confident in finding answers for themselves.
In handwriting, we have been focusing on the c family letters: c, o, a, d, g, and q. All of these begin with the same starting shape, and we are encouraging the children to keep their letters neat and sitting carefully on the line.
Our bug hotel has been very busy. The children have been checking for visitors and filling in the guest book to record who has stopped by. This has sparked lots of curiosity and conversation about different mini‑beasts.
We also finally had the chance to test our windsocks. The children explored which direction the wind was blowing and talked about how the wind feels when it comes from different directions.
Thank you to everyone who joined us for our Craft Sessions. The children loved having you there, and it made the experience extra special.
We are currently re‑vamping some of our areas in school. If you have any wooden coffee tables or dining tables that are no longer in use, please get in touch before taking them to the tip.
