Celebrating Differences Week at Thornhill Primary

This week in Drawing Club, we explored what makes each of us special through the story It’s Okay to Be Different by Todd Parr. Inspired by the book, we:

  • Drew ourselves… but different! We imagined fun and creative versions of ourselves.
  • Designed our houses… but different! Thinking outside the box, we created homes full of personality.
  • Planned imaginative holidays to places we’d love to visit, letting our creativity soar.

We also spent time comparing ourselves with our friends, discovering both similarities and differences, and celebrating what makes each of us unique.

In maths, we measured each other using blocks and found that while we’re all different heights, some of us share the same height too!

Our art sessions got wonderfully messy as we experimented with colour mixing, learning how different colours can come together to create something new and beautiful.

As our topic comes to a close, we’re excited to invite you to a special parental event to celebrate all we've learned. You’ll join your child in making a superhero cape for their teddy, using our newly learnt measuring skills.

Next term PE will be on Wednesdays only.
