This week's news:

This week in Reception we have been exploring measurement using superhero figures and blocks. The children found out which superhero was the biggest, longest, smallest, and tallest. We then enjoyed playing with the superheroes! With the help of Miss Dri and Miss C (our student teachers) the children discovered surprise items inside Miss Oh No’s mystery bag and practiced identifying their initial sounds. Then we cleverly matched the sound with the written letter using our monster phonics sound mats. In Drawing Club, we watched "10 Steps to Flying Like a Superhero". The children let their imaginations soar as they drew their own superheroes, the cities they protect, and the vehicles they zoom around in. The creativity was brilliant, we had lots of superheroes on scooters!

Next week, we’ll be embracing what makes each of us special during Celebrating Differences Week. Reception will be:

• Looking at ourselves and each other to explore how we are similar and different
• Getting messy with colour mixing and discovering how different colours can come together to make something new
