📰 Nursery Newsletter

What a lovely and busy week we have had in nursery! 😊

📚 Monday

At Scribble Club, we read the story Chicken Licken. The children had not heard this story before, but they found it very funny! They joined in with actions, guessed repeated words, and showed a great understanding of the story. We were all very surprised by the ending!

The story inspired lots of rhyming using our own names. Afterwards, we drew Chicken Licken, focusing on where to place different body parts and noticing that the head is smaller than the body. We also talked about chickens having beaks.

✏️ Tuesday

The children enjoyed drawing Chicken Licken so much that we decided to draw our own portraits! We used very small paper to challenge the children with proportions. We talked about our body parts and discussed what is the same and what is different between us.

🇮🇹 Wednesday

We continued working on our portraits and also had a wonderful Italian lesson with Mrs Pandolfi, practicing our numbers.

🎶 Thursday

In Monster Phonics, we explored Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes. The children guessed the book from the pictures and already knew the actions. We identified which Monster Phonic matched each action and experimented with doing them slowly and quietly, then quickly and loudly.

Afterwards, we used tins to create lots of exciting music!

🏃 Friday

PE day! The children thoroughly enjoyed their favourite obstacle course.

🐞 Homework Task – Bug Hotel 🌿

As part of our new topic on minibeasts, we will be creating bug hotels in nursery.

We would be very grateful if you could help your child collect and bring in some natural materials from outdoors, such as:

  • Twigs or small sticks
  • Dry leaves
  • Pine cones
  • Bark
  • Small stones or pebbles
  • Dry grass or moss

Please ensure that all items are dry and safe to handle.

Thank you for your support 😊 – we are excited to build lovely homes for our bugs!
