Hello. I'm Mrs Holcombe and I've been working as a teacher at Thornhill Primary school for the last 25 years. I guess you could say I'm part of the furniture! Over the years I have taught in Year 1, Year 2, Year 4, Year 5 and am currently loving being a Year 6 teacher. From the age of 14 I decided I wanted to be a primary school teacher and feel privileged to be able to live my dream!
I am the Expressive Arts lead within the school and am passionate about music and drama. Giving the children opportunities to develop their talents, increase their confidence and bring joy to audiences is hugely important and fulfilling to me and I offer a weekly choir club which enables them to do that.
Outside of school I am a wife and mother to 3 adult children who ensure my life is full of love and laughter. I love to watch sport, am a huge rugby fan and enjoy watching my eldest daughter play both rugby and American football. I also enjoy going for long walks, particularly by the sea and spend a lot of the school holidays in my 'happy place,' Cornwall. I also enjoy spending time with friends, going to the theatre and baking. I am a classically trained musician and studied music as a violinist in London many moons ago! I have sung in a choir for the last 30 years and have enjoyed performing around the world in some amazing venues including the Vatican, St Mark's cathedral in Venice and the Principality Stadium here in Cardiff. I love going to music gigs and particularly enjoy seeing my son play drums in his bands.
