Make chocolate crispy cakes

Ingredients

  

  • 200 g milk chocolate
  • 2 tbsp golden syrup
  • 50 g butter
  • 150 rice crispies
  • Sprinkles or mini marshmallows, M&Ms etc

Instructions

 

  • Add some cupcake cases to a muffin tray

Melt the chocolate, syrup and butter

  • Break the chocolate into pieces and then add them to a heatproof bowl.

  • Add the golden syrup. If you have a squeezy bottle of syrup hold the spoon steady while your child pours in the syrup or vice versa.

  • Finally, add the butter. You can get your kids to chop it into a few pieces with a blunt knife before you put it in your bowl to help it melt more quickly.

  • Pop your bowl over a pan of simmering water (double boiler.)

  • Leave it to melt, stirring it occasionally.

Mix in the rice crispies

  • While the chocolate mixture is melting, get your kids to measure out the rice crispies into a large mixing bowl.

  • Pour the melted chocolate mixture over the rice crispies and give it a good mix.

  • Make sure everything is well mixed so the rice crispies are all coated in chocolate.

Make the chocolate crispie cakes

  • Give your kids spoons and get them to fill the cases with the chocolate covered rice crispies.

  • Add some decorations on top.

  • Chill the chocolate crispie cakes in the fridge for a few hours to set.
