Thornhill now has their own Senedd which will be made up of a team of AM’s who will represent each year group. The Senedd meet regularly during school hours. Thornhill Senedd gives the children the opportunity to have their say through Senedd meetings and over the last few years they have met the Children's Commissioner for Wales, been to a Rights Fest celebration day, delivered assemblies, visited the debating chamber in the National Senedd, chosen films for movie nights, raised money for charity, launched anti racism campaigns and looked at ways of championing children's rights in school. The Senedd is made up of children from year 2-6 who have been voted in by their peers.
We have also been working towards our Gold Rights Respecting School Award, and were granted it in July 2025!
Recent campaigns:
The Senedd have written a letter to the school kitchen about having a salad bar instead of mixed salad with their meals. They were so persuasive that the older children can now choose their own salad from different bowls!
