If you have an apple tree or fruit bush at home then your children are likely to have already experienced this, but if not then you might need to help them by going wild!
Around Cardiff are lots of blackberries that ripen at the end of August or start of September. Take a pot and go hunting - Llanishen park, the Wild Gardens at the end of Roath Park and many other spots have wild brambles with blackberries on them. If you want, take a bottle of water to give them a quick rinse before you munch!
If you'd rather make sure they're ripe, or prefer other fruit then there are many 'pick your own' fruit farms around this area that offer dates when their fruit is ripe.
