Climb a tree

Climbing trees helps to build strength, endurance, and flexibility. It also improves balance, coordination, and spatial awareness. Furthermore, being outdoors and surrounded by nature has been shown to reduce stress and anxiety, improve mood, and increase overall well-being. It helps children to take calculated risks and to assess whether something is too high or dangerous, or whether they can do it!

If you are going tree climbing with your child, please make sure that the tree is strong and that you either have permission to climb (in a friend's garden?) or that you don't need permission because the tree is out in a wood.

Local places with great trees to climb include Forest Fawr and the wild gardens at the end of Roath Park.

Please be careful not to damage the trees, and we recommend always supervising your child while they are climbing. You'll be surprised how well they do!
