This intergenerational schools project is funded by the National Lottery through the Big Lottery Fund.
Thornhill Primary Schools is one of a handful in Wales to get involved in the award-winning Time after Time programme.
We want you to engage with lonely older people in our local community to take part in projects that encourage your pupils to talk, sing and communicate with the elderly at school-organised events.
This project is led by the Goldies Cymru charity. It encourages people who are socially isolated to get out and enjoy being with others through music and activities. Our project is not just music-led although much of the time we spend with the elderly people is based on singing and dancing.
This year all our Year 5 and 6 children have had the opportunity to earn Time Credits by taking part in these sessions.
We invite the elderly into our school to enjoy time together with our pupils. We would like to include the grand parents of our pupils and the people who attend our local Goldies Cymru singing sessions in your area. If you are interested in finding out more, please contact our school office. Sessions are held once every half term on a Friday afternoon.
