There are around 300 community food co-ops running across Wales from places such as schools, community centres, church halls, workplaces and many other different venues.
As well as helping you eat more healthily, you can also save money by using your local food co-op. On average a regular customer saves around £220 a year! As well as selling fruit and vegetables, many also offer additional produce such as eggs.. Many are linked to other community activities such as parent and toddler groups, community cafes and social groups, offering the chance to socialise and meet new people.
A food co-op is a fun way to buy your fresh fruit and vegetables as well as being good value, healthy and sustainable. It's an affordable alternative to the supermarkets and money spent though a food co-op is re-invested into the local community plus there is less waste, less packaging and fewer food miles which has to be good news.
Bags of veg, fruit, salad, stir fry, casserole and mixed bags can be ordered for £3. Eggs can be bought at 90p for 6.
We use Jimmy Broughton as our supplier.
Look out in the School playground on a Friday afternoon at 3.30pm for the Food Coop team. If you would like to send in an order please label an envelope with your child's name and class and the order. Please note we only accept cash for this project.
